PHILANTHROPY: THE CHARLES E. WHITAKER JR. FOUNDATION

Many believe that a hero never actually dies, but instead their legacy lives on. There is truth in this belief, because there are certain people you simply cannot forget. Firefighter and paramedic Charles, “Chucky” Whitaker Jr, is one of those people and Dallas, Texas’ very own hero. He is someone who’s life was dedicated to making sure the lives of others were safe. His life abruptly came to an end as a result of gun violence, but the truth of a legacy is embodied in his namesake’s foundation.

The Charles E. Whitaker Jr. Foundation is a philanthropic organization serving the Dallas/Fort Worth Metropolis. The lifework of the foundation is the lifework of the man who inspired it all – to raise awareness of gun violence, serve the community, and provide opportunities for youth to thrive in this life through scholarships and mentorship.

Our mission is partner with like-minded organizations who believe in being a beacon of light that the darkness of violence attempts to dim. We also take pride in contributing by continuing to protect the city that Mr. Whitaker graciously set out to save.
